The History:
Once upon a time and not too long ago (mid 1990's), Beto Perez, a fantastic and energetic fitness instructor from the country of
Columbia arrived at the fitness center to teach his scheduled fitness class.  Reaching for his music, he then realized that his music was
not with him.  On the spot brainstorming options led him to race quickly to his car, gather his music tapes and play them in class.  As his
favorite Salsa and Merengue music filled the room, he creatively choreographed fun fitness dance moves while leading his class.  His
class danced and smiled to this new fun format.  They liked it!  They wanted more!  Beto's new dance fitness format was soon the most
popular class at the fitness center.  Beto created Zumba Fitness from this music and choreography challenge.  In 1999, Beto brought his
Zumba Fitness class to the United States where he, Alberto Perlman and Alberto Aghion created the Zumba Fitness philosophy and
concept.  Zumba Fitness fun continues to spread all over the world!  And we all live happily everyday!

About Zumba Fitness classes:

Latin rhythms, easy to follow dance steps and toning moves take participants to a natural high in a party-like atmosphere.  A person
does not need to know how to dance to participate in Zumba Fitness classes.  Qualifications to participate: "NO EXPERIENCE
NECESSARY."  Participants bring their fun-loving spirit and attitude, a smile, good pair of supportive sneakers, water for hydration and
a towel for sweat (yes, you will sweat!).  The classes allow each person to dance with the intensity level right for his/her body and
encourages each person to add some individual flair and attitude.  The classes allow participants to "bring it", "raise the bar" or "kick it
up a notch" to raise the intensity of their movement.  Whatever your level or pace; just keep moving and grooving!

A class normally lasts 60 minutes and incorporates both fast and slow routines and moves to create an interval and resistance training
that can burn more that 500 calories per session. The amount of calories burned by each participant during class depends on the
participant's level of exertion.  Calories burned are not the only advantage; you burn fat, tone your total body and lift your mood.  Zumba
classes are good for the body, mind and spirit!  Come to class to dance, sculpt and tone your body using moves from Salsa, Merengue,
Cumbia, Belly Dance, Calypso, Cha Cha, Flamenco, Reggaeton, Rock N' Roll and more.
